This song is a mystery. I have no memory of what prompted it or how I wrote it, I just know it’s mine. Even though I don’t remember how the lyrics came together, I like the sentiment. It’s an ode to all the love we enjoy that we don’t deserve and don’t understand. Don’t waste time trying to understand or control it, just be grateful. The arrangement is also mysterious. I had recorded guitar and vocals, but we didn’t know what else to do with it. When Molly Healey was in the studio laying down strings, we asked her to try out something here. She blew our minds with this hauntingly beautiful, Andrew Bird-like cello part. Melissa Henderson Rea rounded things out with her signature harmony vocals, and we called it good.
